Confirmation

Oh my!  It is a gorgeous day here in Iowa and I've got all the windows open just sucking it in.  It's one of those days that I wish I had absolutely nothing to do.  Wouldn't that be amazing?  It's not the case, however, I'm a mom after all.  :)  My farmers are starting to finish up in the field and I'm excited to watch the crops pop up around us.  I love the feeling of being surrounded by corn or soybeans.  I guess it's a good thing my hubby stole me away from Florida.  Ha ha!

I decided to hop on the blog quickly this morning to share a card I made for my nephew's confirmation a couple weekends ago.  My oldest just started his confirmation journey so I'm learning all about the work and learning involved.  It's a pretty cool thing and I love hearing each of the kids' faith statements on the day they are confirmed.  Usually, they make me cry.  I feel the same way on the day we honor the grads and I get to hear what they are all planning to do in the years to come.  I'm just so darn proud of these kids that I've worked with in Sunday School and VBS.  It's so rewarding to watch them grow.  Yup, I'm getting old and sentimental.  Here's my card before I get blubbering.  Ha ha!

I was in a very Reverse Confetti mood for this card.  I grabbed some fun papers from the Fright Night paper pack as well as some black card stock.  I started with a card base of stars...I totally need more of this adorable paper!  I cut some green polka-dot paper with the Big Stripes Cover Panel.  I knew I wanted to make the circle opening a shaker so I added some acetate to the circle, lined it up with the card base and stamped my sentiment from Circle Sentiments so it would fall into the middle of my shaker.  I put my foam tape on my top layer and then added a cut in black using Circles n' Scallops to add a little extra interest between layers.  Finally, I filled my shaker, layered everything up, and added a little bling.  Here's a closer look:

I hope you liked my card today and I hope your day is as gorgeous as mine!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  See you tomorrow for June!  WHAT?!?!?!
