Hello...we are home in Iowa!

Well, we made it home in one piece!  I miss waking up and chatting with my mom each morning but it is nice to be back in my own craft space.  Speaking of craftiness...I finally got into my craft room today after spending a couple days unpacking and organizing.  I decided to take part in two challenges today and I had a ton of fun with them!  The first being the CAS-ual Fridays' challenge of making a square card. 

The second challenge is a new challenge blog dedicated to my favorite tool...The Silhouette!  The blog is The Cameo Spotlight and this week's challenge is to make a card with a summer theme and I had fun doing just that! 

I don't usually do square cards because they require extra postage but I was game for the challenge.  For my card, I tried a little something new.  I sized and cut the Wave Border shape on two different sheets of cardstock.  I then adhered the two cuts together to make a thicker wave to use as an embossing tool for my vellum.  Using my wave, vellum, rubber mats, and my die cut machine; I created an embossed wave pattern on my vellum.  I then inked the back side of my vellum to give it some color.  Just another way to make the Silhouette all the more handy!  To make the duck floaty, I created my floaty shape with two ovals and merged it with the duck from Lori Whitlock.  It made the perfect little summer floaty!  Check it out:
