Why Haven't I Used That #2

It's Wednesday again and I'm coming at you with another look at a card made with some awesome stuff that I have yet to use. Today's product is the Concord and 9th Sunshine Turnabout. I love the idea of these and I have bought several but haven't used a single one. They scare me, simple as that. I feel completely clueless when it comes to using them so it was time to bite the bullet and go for it!

It's almost graduation time again and I know I'm going to need a bunch of cards in all the different school colors around us. I figured this was the perfect way to add those colors without being too over the top. Here's what I created:

I broke out my Misti for this job and started by getting everything positioned. I was super happy with my first go but quickly got confused because I apparently hadn't cut my paper to the right size...oops! I pressed on and just lined it up each time I flipped my card stock. I think my eyeball did a pretty good job and when I added the die cut "congrats" it covered many mistakes. I'm thinking that I might invest in the positioner thingy or these turnabouts because they really do make cool backgrounds. Here's a closer look:

Monday Funday: Simon Says Stamp

 Happy Monday and I hope you all had an amazing weekend. It was chilly here but I got some spring cleaning done and I'm calling that a success. I also got to have a little fun this week with the Simon Wednesday Challenge. I have played along with challenge a few times here or there but I had no idea they have been going strong for 12 years. That is absolutely amazing! I'm always in need of birthday cards so this theme was right up my alley. Here's what I created:

I have to admit, I sort of floundered around while creating this card. I really had no real direction other than knowing I wanted to use the Healing Hugs stamp set. I bought it awhile ago and I just love the flowers so I embossed them in white on a black card base before coloring them in with colored pencils. I had no idea what color to color the dots so I went with a purplish magenta color and now I'm not so sure if I like that decision since I also used it for the sentiment cut out. I added the die cut with some foam tape and for the life of me, I'm not sure why I didn't pop of the centers of the letters with foam also. Who knows. I finished it all off with a little ha ha sentiment to make sure it reads as a birthday card. Here's a closer look:

Not my favorite card that I have made but I don't hate it either. It's just ho hum but I hope you liked it and come play over at Simon Wednesday Challenge. I'd love to see your creation also

Good morning!  I hope you've checked out this morning's post over at CAS(E) this Sketch!  The challenge this week is great!  Of course, they always are!  If you are stopping by after seeing my card over there...thanks so much!  I'm flattered that you wanted to see how I made my crazy creation.  :)  You guys are awesome!  Here's what I created for this week:

I have been trying to get back in the card making mood so I decided that I needed a project to get me going. So, I decided to get ready for our Church celebrating Confirmation this fall. My middle guy just started his Confirmation journey last year and has another year to go but I know how much work goes in to completing this step in their church lives. So, I want to make sure the kids know that we are proud of them. For this card, I used and awesome paper pack from Illustrated Faith given to my by my also pattern paper addicted friend, Jen. It is an awesome pack and I have a hard time using it because I don't want it to be gone. Ha ha! I trimmed out a piece that had this awesome sentiment on it and then cut a white on white layered cross with some Simon Says Stamp dies. It is a super simple card but I think it will be perfect to give to one of our awesome teens! Here's a closer look:

Happy Thursday everyone! I hope you are ready for yet another grad card! Ha ha ha! They just keep popping up everywhere and I love making sure the grads in our life are feeling extra special with all the crazy happening right now.  I hope you are all enjoying your summer. I feel like it is already flying by and I need it to SLOW DOWN! Here's hoping you can find some time in all the crazy to join us at CAS(E) this Sketch. Here's what I created:

Guess what, I used the same Simon Says stamp grad stuff for this card as I did for the others. I have to say, I'm really getting my money's worth from them. I love this school's colors and I was excited to get to use one of my favorite packs of patterned paper from Honeybee Stamps. So fun! I trimmed off the top of a tag die to get the flag shape on the front and then just did some cutting and layering. Easy peasy. Here's a closer look:
