A Little Red, White, and Blue!

Being Memorial Day weekend, I decided to indulge in a little red, white, and blue which worked out perfectly for the awesome inspiration photo at The Play Date Cafe!  These colors were extremely fitting for this lovely weekend which always makes me think of our amazing service men and women.  Our family is pretty firmly linked to the military.  My father was in the Air Force until he retired which inspired me to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy and serve my time in the Air Force.  While at the Academy, I met my amazing husband who still remains an active part of the military in the Air Force Reserves.  To round it all out, my brother joined the Air Force also and is still serving this country and keeping on the family tradition.  It makes me feel good to know that we have all helped in our own way to make this country what it is.  Memorial Day also leaves me with a heavy heart because it reminds me of the friends and loved ones lost in service to their country.  The first time I really ever experienced death was when our long time family friend, Tim Harrison, died in Desert Storm.  I still can not hear Taps being played without bawling my eyes out.  I love you, Tim, and you will never be forgotten.

Since my dad is a veteran and one of the most awesome guys I know, I figured I'd make a card for him combining the challenge from The Play Date Cafe (to use these amazing colors and photos for inspiration) and the challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays (CFC 54:  a clean and simple masculine card).

Great color combo for this weekend and for a card honoring my dad!  I put my Silhouette Cameo to work again and I hope you enjoy the results!  Have a great weekend!
