Play Date Cafe Time!

Unfortunately, today we found out we were in need of a sympathy card.  A family member's husband passed away after a long battle with cancer.  Sympathy cards are always impossibly hard to make and mom and I were searching for inspiration.  We were looking through different magazines and blogs but weren't feeling inspired until we saw the colors being used for the Play Date Cafe's Challenge #139.  These colors are lovely.  At first I thought the metallics would be too flashy for a sympathy card but isn't a sympathy card also supposed to make you think of the happy times spent with the person?  We decided to give it a try.  Here's the inspiration photo:

The picture feels so calming.  I struggled with finding the right colors.  Neither my mom nor I had many metallics to speak of.  I ended up finding a pad of metallic paper and the closest thing to nude we could find.  I like how it turned out and it was fun trying something new!  I'd love to try this card again with some creamier cardstock and PTI's gold and silver paper but that will have to wait until I'm home!  Until then, here's my card:

Stamps:  Mega Mehndi Medallions, Thing Big Favorites #3 (PTI)
Inks:  True Black (PTI), Versamark
Dies:  Lowercase (Clear & Simple Stamps)
Paper:  Fine Linen (PTI), Metallic Stack (DCWV)
Misc:  Foam Tape (Scotch)
